MMA - Possibly The Most Secure Contact Sport Ever

The main contact sports that come to mind when you think of contact sports are boxing, hockey, and mixed martial arts. MMA is the most hated of all these sports. It is often criticized as dangerous and barbaric. There is a lot of risk for bodily injury, but there are many ways to make it safer. There have been only two deaths in its almost 17-year history. Evidence What sports suggests that both of the deaths were caused by pre-existing conditions that contributed to their premature deaths. Mixed martial arts and the other sports mentioned above have been directly responsible for more deaths than MMA.

Let's take, for example, hockey. Hockey players can reach speeds of 25mph. This is the maximum speed. That is 40mph for two people who are skating at 20mph. It is possible to knock someone unconscious at that speed. It can be fatal to hit a hard surface such as ice when it is cold. More than one player has died as a result of an on-ice head injury. Players have also died after being hit with a frozen puck in the chest. This isn't old-school hockey. Graham Christie was killed in 1997 after his heart was stopped by a puck in his chest. Miran Schrott, what do you think? Miran Schrott died after being hit in the chest by an opponent player. This caused his heart to stop. Players' speed and puck speed, along with player-to player and player-to surface (i.e. the boards and the ice), will all result in more deaths.

The history of football is more tragic than that for hockey. There are many deaths in the history of football. This is in addition to the many career-ending or other debilitating injuries like paralysis. Between 1982 and 2008 (26 years), 325 boys and men died directly or indirectly due to playing high school or college football. Direct injuries refer to fatalities that resulted from playing football's fundamental skills (such as blocking and tackling). Indirect injuries refer to injuries that result from exertion during football activities or a complication which is secondary to a non-fatal injury (such a heart attack and heat stroke). From the years 1931 to 2008, 1990 was the only year that there was no football fatality.

It's amazing to see that football is not criticized for being a potentially dangerous sport, while mixed martial arts, such as mixed martial, is still referred by ignorant people as "barbaric" and "human cockfighting." This fundamental misconception is detrimental to the legitimacy of the sport as an elite athletic endeavor. Boxing is the worst sport for sustaining life-threatening injuries and fatal injuries. The gloves for boxing are between 14 and 16 oz in weight and are meant to protect the hands and not the head. It does a remarkable job protecting the hands of the puncher. He can deliver more punches to his opponent's head and cause greater brain damage than if he had smaller gloves, such as MMA fighters wear. The MMA gloves weigh 4oz.

They provide moderate protection for the hand, but allow knockouts to take place. You would never have thought that a knockout could be so safe. It is safer than repeated blunt force trauma. Boxing's main objective is to knock your opponent unconscious or incapacitated from repeatedly hitting his head. Rarely will a fighter's side throw in the towel to save his fighter. This is embarrassing and unmanly. Mixed martial arts has many ways to end fights. Submission is not considered a stigma in Brazilian jujitsu, regardless of whether it is due to strikes, choke, or joint lock. To avoid serious injury, it is considered intelligent to submit for joint locks or strikes.

Perhaps that makes boxers (and hockey and football players) more difficult than MMA men. You can stack the tougher, smarter MMA men on top of each others while you keep fighting another day. You can train to become a fighter, or take part in mma St Louis or Chicago, New York, Las Vegas or Bettendorf, IA, or Appleton, WI. You should make sure that you choose a safe, well-respected school to train at.
